Indiana Wesleyan University

Indiana Wesleyan University experienced unprecedented growth in both enrollment and facility improvements during the late 1990's, and has continued to this day. In 1999, LandPlan Group was commissioned by the university to prepare a campus master plan that would help establish policies and development standards for the growth. This master plan included recommendations for vehicular and pedestrian circulation, parking locations, site lighting standards, landscape plantings, site furniture and the identification and design of several focal features throughout the 220-acre campus.

In addition to developing the master plan, LandPlan Group provided specific site design solutions for the Phillippe Performing Arts Center, Kem and Scripture Halls, Williams Prayer Chapel, Maxwell Center, Student Union. In 2003, LandPlan Group was instrumental in designing the university's "central campus quad" adjacent to the newly completed Jackson Library. The focal feature of the design was a large plaza and water feature that services as a gathering space for both formal and informal events. The plaza also acts as a "pedestrian roundabout" for many of the sidewalks that converge at the library, and a transitional space between the library and student union.

Wayfinding Signage

Wayfinding signage benefits a community by directing visitors and residents, developing a community's identity, reinforcing the community's brand, and providing a uniform signage system allowing the removal of miscellaneous, inconsistent signage.  The LandPlan Group utilizes its creative design approach to wayfinding signage, as it does with any project type.  Signage design and planning for sign locations is vital to a project, and LandPlan Group excels in developing a cohesive sign system for a community.

The LandPlan Group has completed wayfinding signage projects in communities including Valparaiso, Kokomo, Portage, Fort Wayne, and Nappanee.  With each project, our firm aids the client in determining sign entities, locations, color selections, and budgets.  Projects may include a phasing plan to allow communities to install signs in intervals as funds allow

Parkview Family Park

Parkview Family Park is a 25-acre new passive park located on the campus of Parkview Regional Medical Center, and is a symbol of the hospital's mission for providing green space for the community. The park's amenities provide visitors a grand 2,500 square foot pavilion with restroom facilities, a Super ADA playground, outdoor amphitheater stage and seating, picnic shelters, native wetland habitat, and over one mile of smooth, meandering trails along a beautiful 7-acre pond.

The pavilion is a beautiful architectural element, and is the central hub of the park. The playground is a massive, totally accessible play structure that is the first of its kind in Allen County. The surface of the playground is state-of-the-art, and provides visitors with maximum safety. While children are playing, adults can enjoy watching on the park benches, or can get in their daily exercise on the park's outdoor fitness equipment.

The amphitheater offers the opportunity for special events including musical performances and other presentations. The amphitheater stage serves a dual purpose as an overlook to the park's pond. The park's "big hill" provides incredible views of the campus and vistas of the Indiana landscape. The park's trails offer hours of challenging walking or jogging with its endless curves and undulations.
