Harrison Square

Harrison Square is a mixed-use Downtown Fort Wayne revitalization project that includes a home field ballpark for the Fort Wayne TinCaps minor league baseball team. The LandPlan Group's role in the project was that of site designer and coordinator. The site includes a number of amenities including the main entrance plaza at Jefferson Boulevard, the new Robert E. Meyer City Park, the Home Plate Plaza, the Baseball Statuary Plaza, and an enhanced City of Fort Wayne streetscape.

Jefferson Plaza is an important entrance into the ballpark from the heart of downtown. The plaza offers the opportunity for multiple events, and provides visitors an opportunity to mingle prior to proceeding into an event. Fans and park goers enter the plaza and proceed up a grand stairway to the stadium concourse while passing beneath a beautifully detailed North Gateway.

Robert E. Meyer City Park provides a 360 degree amphitheater stage and terraced seating for special events. A 38-water jet fountain allows visitors to cool off on a hot summer day. When lit at night, the fountain becomes a spectacular focal feature from grandstand at the ballpark. The beautifully landscaped grounds provide an oasis from the development's urban surroundings.

Headwaters Park

Headwaters Park is a 26-acre urban park developed to protect Downtown Fort Wayne from floodwaters, and to provide recreational opportunities for the community. The LandPlan Group's services on the project included design development, planting design and contract administration. The park hosts many festivals and events throughout the year, including the Three Rivers Festival and outdoor skating facility.

Situated on the St. Mary's river just north of the Central Business District, the park offers pedestrian walkways that link together various park features while offering a natural oasis to the urban visitor. In 2000, the park was presented with the Indiana Association of Landscape Architect's Honor Award, which is the highest award a project can receive. Today, the park serves as the heart of the City's activities.
